Hello Aberdeen-Matawan softball families!

Thank you for your interest in the Matawan Huskies Softball Club!  Launched in January 2020 as an extension of Aberdeen-Matawan Youth Athletic Association (AMYAA), the Matawan Huskies' main goal will be to provide a developmental opportunity for our towns' young female athletes to advance in the game of softball, while providing town pride in a collegial, yet competitive environment.

In the 2021-22 season, the Huskies will field teams at the 8U (2013 & 2014 birth years), 10U (2011 & 2012) and 12U (2009 & 2010) levels, with the potential for higher age levels, depending on interest.
To be eligible to play on an 8u or 10u Huskies team, a player will be asked to register in AMYAA’s rec softball program next Spring (April 2022).  Fall rec. participation is optional. In ages 12U & above, playing in the rec. league is suggested but not required.  Players from neighboring towns are encouraged to tryout.
Each Huskies team will practice on a town field, one or two times per week and have the ability to participate in local leagues and tournaments, competing against town-level teams at their respective skill levels.  Unlike larger club-level organizations that travel far and often, we anticipate that the Huskies will play a more moderate semi-local schedule, allowing the girls to hone their skills in a competitive, but less pressurized environment.

Seasons will run April through July (Spring/Summer); and September through October (Fall) with an indoor winter workout component taking place between January and March.  Participation costs will be moderate and dependent on each team’s schedule and will be discussed in detail before the onset of each season.

Our hope in creating these teams is for area athletes to advance their skill sets together as a unit, as they progress through each level and eventually as middle school and high school team members.
